  • Consider the amount of air its wings must displace in order to stay aloft. An equal quantity of mass at least. It’s passing through that air and, partly pushing it down, but also partially scraping it thin over the bowed top surface of the wing (the Bernoulli principle) which creates a pressure differential that lifts the wing, pulling it upward through suction, and thus the plane. That’s why the plane must go fast to fly, and why it “stalls” and falls if it isn’t moving through enough air. It’s also how turbulence affects a plane. Differences in air pressure mean that in pockets of low pressure there isn’t as much mass being displaced by the wings, not enough lift so it falls.

Now, it’s quite likely that my layman’s comprehension of this is flawed. But I’m sure it’s entirely possible that someone will correct me soon :3

  • Yeah man if I were in charge of the post office I’d definitely push for that AND the return of postal banking. Every post office in the United States would be your one stop service for this email so if there are authentication issues or anything you can actually go there and talk to a PERSON, IN-PERSON.

You would use this system specifically for official government correspondence, and also it’d be better for job seeking too - any situation where you need to be communicating as YOURSELF, fully verified.

I’d even throw in social media features. Forums, microblogging, live chat groups… however, everyone’s identity is clear and certain. No anonymity here. There is privacy insofar as what’s between you and the government stays between you and the government, but if you want anonymity and to express opinions without someone knowing who you are, that’s to be done elsewhere.

Instead of a social media website that lies to you and pretends dishonestly to give you privacy, this would have to be up front about the fact that it’s public property. A town square where you’re wearing a name tag. If you don’t want your neighbors knowing your rhetorical positions, post them elsewhere. Those other places, private services, and important and need to exist as counterbalance.

I’m sure many criminals would be stupid enough to use it for human trafficking and contraband smuggling shit though so that’ll help uncover and discipline rogue elements.

  • I’m still rocking a Galaxy Note 9 from 2018. Somehow still performs surprisingly well, holds a charge for longer than 24 hours, and I just don’t feel like the phones that came after it really offer that much of an advantage technologically. I don’t have any app slowdown or latency issues, really. I’m not about to drop several hundred dollars upwards of a thousand to get a meager incremental gain AND lose my treasured headphone jack which I still use on a weekly basis. I loved the note 8 and prior to that owned a note 4. I’m not sure what I even want to settle for from where I am right now. I know it’ll never happen, but I still ardently wish that the note 9 would just get a refresh, all the same features and structures (including the headphone jack!!!) but with newer versions OF the GPU, the CPU, the RAM, the solid state storage, a 5g antenna… The cameras were fine. Don’t even need better cameras. Oh well…
